I believe my final ten photographs do make a cohesive set that fits my original brief however I think some work better than others. I really like the abandoned Victoria station photo however it doesn't completely meet the brief; as my brief states that I was going to take photos of the streets of London and make them look interesting however with this photo, I feel that I have made a very popular place look completely different, so in a sense I have met the brief as I have made Victoria Station look interesting. Overall, most of my photos meet the brief.
I took inspiration for my photos from several photographers, however when I came to editing them, I found I was focusing more on David Gutierrez. On his website a lot of his images have been edited to be in black and white, and some of them have a red bus or red phone box which is the only thing in colour, and I have used this editing technique in my final images.
My recreation shoot helped as while I was out in London I found some interesting places to take photos of. This shoot also got me thinking about how I could edit photos in the style of the photographer that I looked at. This is because, although I found the same place as where Gutierrez took photos of London Bridge, the photo that I took didn't look too much like David's. Yet, when it came to editing these photos, I was able to make it look more like his images. I found that in my test shoot, I liked a lot of my images, and so I edited quiet a few of them. The used leading lines a lot to make my photos more eye catching, and I think that using this technique helps with architectural photography because you are able to get more into a photo.
Most of my photos fit the characteristics of architectural photography as they use parallel lines and leading lines. I have also used a large depth of field in some of my images, making more of the image sharp and in focus. Although I didn't use reflections in my final images, I did use this technique in my recreation shoot.
I believe that I succeeded in the editing process as I really do like a lot of my edited photos, however I feel that the photos themselves could be better. I think that next time, I should try to take photos more in the evening and at night, as this would give me a better range of photos and it would give me more to edit. It would also give me a comparison of photos of some with natural light, and some with artificial light. I think I need to develop my skills in sticking to my brief, as although some of them do fully meet the brief, I believe that some of them only meet part of the brief. I could also work on using more techniques, as I just seemed to be using leading lines.
Overall, I am proud of the photos I have made, and I believe that they are much better than my previous images (the urban photography pictures), even though there is always room for improvement.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this unit.
